GUEST BLOG: Why Social Media? Two Words: Brand Awareness

“Social Media can be intimidating to small businesses. I’m here to tell you that these platforms are what you make of them! Think long and hard about the best ones to use for your brand:

  • Twitter

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • Linkedin

You don’t have to be on ALL of these platforms to be successful with your online presence. The most important thing is to think about where your customer base is and what platforms they are using. And remember the number one reason to be on social media is to build brand awareness.

If people don’t know about your business, they can’t become your customers. Social media boosts your visibility among potential customers, letting you reach a wide audience by using a large amount of time and effort. And it’s free to create a business profile on all the major social networks, so you have nothing to lose.

After you decide which platforms are crucial for your business take your time developing these few things:

  • Account Bio
Who are you? Where are you located? What is your mission?
Strong, descriptive and consistent across all your platforms

  • Profile Picture
Use your logo or a gorgeous image of your storefront

  • Hashtag
Have fun with this one and don’t be so literal!

  • Library of Content
Everyone has a high-quality camera on their phones nowadays, bright lighting is key!
I recommend working with a professional photographer at least once a month to have guaranteed content ready to use

So what is this Brand Awareness? Well.. when someone is looking for you online they are searching Google and social media to see what you’re all about. The way my fiance and I find new places to eat is on Instagram. We’ll send each other pictures from the restaurant's page, now you don’t want to miss out on that opportunity. “
